Keeping a Journal

I was recently called as the Sunday school teacher for the 13 year olds about 7 months ago. I love it, I love it, I LOVE it! We have such a wonderful group of kids who are so good and know the gospel so well. My topic this last sunday was on keeping a journal and how it blesses our family as well as ourselves. I haven't been so good at doing this and so I decided to start a family blog and keep a journal that way instead of hand writing it. I am a much faster typer and I love to add photos or videos and I can't seem to do that when I am hand writing it because I don't always have access to printing off pictures. Anyway, The lesson mentioned a talk by President Eyring titled, "O Remember,Remember", and told of his example with writing a journal.
He said, "When our children were very small, I started to write down a few things about what happened every day. I wrote down a few lines every day for years. I never missed a day no matter how tired I was or how early I would have to start the next day. Before I would write, i would ponder this question: "Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?" As i would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, I realized that trying to remember had allowed God to show me what He had done. You might pray and ponder, asking the questions: Did God send a message that was just for me? Did I see His hand in my life?"
This had a huge impact on me and I have had a greater desire to try everyday to write down the things that happen in our families daily life. I sure want my children and grand children to know of the testimony I have of our Savior and the gospel. I am so thankful for those in the scriptures who took the time and followed the council of Heavenly Father to write down the things that happened in their lives, so we might learn from them and see how the hand of God blessed their life as well.
